Riding the big wave

The contest, which attracts big wave surfers from around the world, is held in memory of Hawaiian surf and lifeguard legend Eddie Aikau only when the waves are over 40 feet. Thousands of spectators and surfers are flocking to Hawaii's beaches to see some of the largest waves in the state in half a decade. Forecasters are predicting waves could reach heights of 50 feet.
